MERCERSBURG- The “Junior Stars” theatre troupe is gearing up to enchant audiences with their production of the beloved fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk” at the Star Theatre in Mercersburg. Directed by Sarah-Lynn Styers, the play features a talented cast of actors aged 10 to 17 who will bring a modern-day twist to the classic story.
While the familiar characters like the gullible Jack, his poor mother, the magical egg-laying goose, and the not-so-scary Giant and his wife will grace the stage, the production promises to be a delightfully fresh take on the tale. Jack’s cow, refusing to be sold, will lead a merry chase across the stage, pursued by the bean seller and unexpected guests from other fairy tales.
The play is set to be a lively affair, with plenty of stage action to captivate young audiences and snappy, humorous dialogue to entertain adults. The director, Sarah-Lynn Styers, has worked closely with the young actors to ensure a high-quality, engaging performance that stays true to the spirit of the classic story while injecting it with a contemporary flair.
Performances are scheduled for Saturday, June 1, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 2, at 3 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10 for children aged 5 to 12, $15 for adults, and free admission for children under 5. All tickets will be sold at the door, which will open 45 minutes before each performance.
