HAGERSTOWN, MD- The Class of 2024 at St. Maria Goretti High School in Hagerstown experienced a bittersweet commencement as they were the final graduating class before the school’s closure after nearly 70 years of operation. While saddened by the loss of their beloved school, which will no longer receive financial aid from the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the 36 graduates chose to focus on the future rather than dwell on the past during their final ceremony at St. Ann Catholic Church. The faculty too is scattering, with the principal and some teachers heading to St. Mary Catholic School downtown, while others will teach in public schools.
