Buttonwood Nature Center, home of The Institute is offering a new series of six outdoor nature programs for preschoolers in June and July.

Designed for pre-K children ages 2.5 to 5, the Wee Wonder programs will run on Thursdays, June 13, 20, 27, and July 11, 18, 25 from 10–11:30 a.m. at Pine Hill Recreation Area in Waynesboro, Pa. Registration for the full series is required.

This year, Wee Wonders will run simultaneously with Buttonwood’s Explore! sessions for older kids, so that families with siblings can attend programs at the same time.

Taught by Buttonwood educators, age-appropriate Wee Wonders activities include exploring the outdoors, hikes, theme-related story books, rhymes, finger plays, nature games, crafts, songs, and puppets.

“Geared for our youngest budding naturalists, these programs are designed to inspire outdoor wonder as we celebrate the summer season,” said Kettie Leighty, Buttonwood instructor.

Pre-registration for the full series and payment in advance are required by June 11. The fee for all six programs is $48 per child for Buttonwood/Institute members; $60 for the general public, per child. Limited to 15 children. Register online at www.buttonwoodnaturecenter.org.

The program is part of Buttonwood’s Summer Programs series for kids. Information about additional summer programs for youth is available on Buttonwood website.

Wee Wonders programs are sponsored by Diana Dale, in memory of Mary Ann Payne and Helen Herr Moyer. Also supported in part by Today’s Horizon Fund contributors: The Nora Roberts Foundation; Marge Kiersz; and the Carolyn Terry Eddy Family: Carolyn, with daughters Connie Fleagle & Kim Larkin.
