The second annual Summer Solstice Celebration will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, in Green Hill Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro. The event is hosted by Antietam Historical Association, founded in 2006 to interpret the history of the region in Maryland and Pennsylvania drained by Antietam Creek.

The celebration includes live music by Frank & Bob, a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, and self-guided tours of the cemetery.

Advance tickets are available at the cemetery office or by calling 717-762-2759 or 717-658-6789. Advance tickets are $25 or two for $45. Tickets at the door are $30 or two for $55. The event is limited to 100 people.

Green Hill Cemetery was established in 1873 as a community burial ground to replace local churchyards that had nearly reached their capacities. It is a garden cemetery on 65 acres traversed by seven miles of paved roadway and filled with monumental architecture and plant life. Green Hill is Waynesboro’s oldest nondenominational burial ground and Franklin County’s largest cemetery property.
