It was “A Night To Remember” for Pre-kindergarten students at Noah’s Ark Christian Child Care Center in Waynesboro when they attended their first prom May 17. Seventeen students and their parent chaperones attended the themed event in the fellowship hall of Christ United Methodist, where Noah’s Ark is located.

“The students arrived dressed to the nines, with boutonnieres and corsages, ready to dance the night away,” according to Lindsay Cook, director.

The setting included a photo backdrop equipped with Polaroid cameras to capture the moment. “And there were many strobe lights and bubble machines to set the scene,” Cook said. “Kidz Bop Radio was blasting, and there were refreshments provided by the families. This night was a magical experience for these upcoming pre-K graduates who will be heading to kindergarten in the fall,” she added.

Cook said the idea for the prom was presented to her by pre-K teacher, Melanie Fogel. “ I knew right away that I was going to assist in any way possible to make sure this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity happened for these students. We planned for weeks to make sure we offered all the same experiences that a high school prom might have,” Cook noted. “I am really looking forward to making this an annual tradition.”
