CLEAR SPRING, MD- Get ready for a fun-filled historical celebration next Friday, May 17th in Clear Spring, Maryland! The annual National Pike Festival and James Shaull Wagon Train event is taking place at the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company Bingo Hall Facilities. This unique festival commemorates the historic National Road, also known as the National Pike or Cumberland Road, which was one of the first major improved highways in the United States built in the early 1800s. It connected the Potomac and Ohio rivers, allowing settlers to travel west.

The festivities kick off with food vendors serving up delicious fare from 5-9pm. Be sure to come hungry and sample some local cuisine! Live music will keep the atmosphere lively and entertaining from 6-9pm. A highlight of the event is the James Shaull Wagon Train, a recreated wagon train that travels along portions of the original National Road route leading up to the festival. This allows visitors to experience a taste of life on the trail from centuries ago. The event is hosted by the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company, so your attendance will support this vital community organization. Be sure to explore the bingo hall facilities during your visit. A special thanks goes out to L & L Crane for patriotically flying the American flag to commemorate the occasion. Whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a fun evening out, don’t miss this celebration of an important piece of American history and heritage! Mark your calendars for the National Pike Festival on May 17th.
