LEAD to host community event commemorating Armed Forces Day

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Letterkenny Army Depot will host an Armed Forces Day event May 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to the public.


LEAD’s Armed Forces Day activities will include self-guided tours of the James Finley House, the former commander’s quarters, and the Historic Letterkenny Chapel and Franklin County Veterans and 9/11 Memorial Park. Bus tours of the depot will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis
Exhibits, reenactments and tours will showcase the depot’s rich history from World War II to present day.


A ceremony will kick off the day’s events at 11 a.m. at the James Finley House, 541-453 Coffey Ave,
Chambersburg, PA 17201. Bus tours will be held at 11:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.


Due to limited capacity, persons interested in bus tours of the depot are encouraged to pre-register by visiting https://www.letterkenny.army.mil/ and clicking the Armed Forces Day link on the homepage or calling 717-267-5482.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

  • 11:00 a.m – Opening Ceremony at the James Finley House, the historic LEAD Commander’s Quarters 
  • 11:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m – Armed Forces Day Celebration to include exhibits reenactors, bus tours of the depot and more. 
  • 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Historic Letterkenny Chapel & Franklin County Veterans and 9/11 Memorial Park – Open to the public 

DEPOT BUS TOUR SCHEDULE

  • Tour 1 – 11:15 a.m. 
  • Tour 2  – 12:15 p.m. 
  • Tour 3 – 1:15 p.m.
