Bridge Inspections Scheduled on Interstate 81 in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that a contractor will be inspecting several bridges on Interstate 81 in Cumberland and Franklin counties.

The inspections will take place as follows:

  • On Monday, April 8, and Tuesday, April 9, the northbound and southbound I-81 bridges spanning Letort Spring Run between Exit 47 (Route 34/Hanover Street) and Exit 48 (Route 74/York Road) in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County will be inspected.
  • The northbound bridge will be inspected on Monday, with alternating left shoulder and right lane closures from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The southbound bridge will be inspected on Tuesday, with a right lane closure from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • On Friday, April 12, the Pine Stump Road bridge spanning I-81 between Exit 20 (Route 997/Scotland) and Exit 24 (Route 696/Fayette Street) in Greene Township, Franklin County, will be inspected. There will be a right lane closure on northbound and southbound I-81 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Travelers are advised to be alert for these operations, obey work zone signs, and use caution when driving through the work zones for their own safety and the safety of the road crews.
