HARRISBURG- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced there will be lane restrictions beginning Friday on northbound Route 15 in Adams County. These restrictions will be in place so concrete pavement patching, shoulder paving and guiderail upgrades can be performed.
Weather permitting, this work will begin Friday, April 5. The left lane of northbound Route 15 will be closed from Mile Marker 5 to Mile Marker 10 near Gettysburg. This restriction will remain in place for about a month, after which the right lane will be closed on the same section of Route 15 for another month.
This work is part of a 14.8-mile pavement preservation project that includes diamond grinding, milling and overlaying ramps and shoulders, guide rail replacement, pipe replacement, and other miscellaneous activities on Route 15 in Freedom, Cumberland, Mounty Joy and Straban townships, Adams County.
Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
This is also a reminder that a weekend closure for northbound and southbound Route 15 is scheduled for the weekend beginning Friday, April 19, so a pipe can be replaced just south of the Steinwehr Avenue Exit near Gettysburg.
Weather permitting, this work will be performed from 9:00 PM Friday, April 19, through 6:00 AM Monday, April 22. A detour will be in place. In the event of inclement weather, this work will be performed during the same hours the weekend of April 26-29.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $ 8,318,599 project. All work is expected to be completed by February 19, 2025.
