No season is made, or broken, in the first full week.
But if you’re a fan of the Greencastle-Antrim softball team or Smithsburg tennis squad, you’ve got to be happy with how fast your team has burst out of the gates. Both the Blue Devils and Leopards extended their undefeated starts to the season with wins last week. Both enter this week confidence and 3-0 records.
On the baseball diamond, both Waynesboro and Greencastle-Antrim opened Mid-Penn Colonial Division play with wins. Only one of those teams will be able to finish the week spotless in conference play, however, as the Indians and Blue Devils are scheduled to meet on the field this week.
Last week’s North Hagerstown Coaches Open was a largely successful day for the Smithsburg track squad, which crowned two boys champions and nine girls champions.
