CASCADE, MD- The Fort Ritchie Community Center has announced the launch of its
Spring Training Program, a new initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness. Starting
Monday, April 1, the community center will offer complimentary fitness classes to individuals
of all ages and fitness levels.
To make exercise more accessible to everyone, regardless of financial constraints, the
community center, in partnership with Healthy Washington County and the Rural Maryland
Council, will provide introductory fitness classes free of charge. The classes will include Intro to
Cardio, Yoga, and a Pilates-style class called Mix’d Flow.
“Beginning or returning to exercise can be intimidating so we hope to provide an opportunity
for local residents to try it out in a safe and fun environment without worrying about cost,”
said Buck Browning, executive director of the community center. “By offering these free fitness
classes, we hope to encourage people to try something new that could ultimately make a big
difference in their quality of life.”
The classes will be led by certified instructors who are passionate about helping individuals
reach their fitness goals. Whether participants are beginners looking to kickstart their fitness
journey or seasoned athletes seeking to challenge themselves, there will be something for
everyone.
Intro to cardio will allow participants to get a sweat going and raise their heart rate through
simple movements. Mats will be provided for participants in Yoga and Mix’d Flow. Each class
encourages participants to go at their own pace with some modifications offered by
instructors as needed. More detailed information on what to expect in each class is available
on the community center website: www.thefrcc.org.
The free classes will be offered as follows:
Monday 5pm Intro to Cardio
Monday 6pm Vinyasa Yoga
Thursday 6pm Mix’d Flow
Saturday 10am Vinyasa Yoga
Though the classes are free, participants are encouraged to pre-register to attend by visiting
the www.thefrcc.org website or by calling the community center at 301-241-5085.
