HARRISBURG— UPMC Magee-Womens Endometriosis Center will host an Endometriosis Symposium: Navigating Pathways to Wellness on Saturday, March 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel, 4650 Lindle Road, Harrisburg. Designed for women and those in their support systems, the conference will discuss the importance of coordinated supportive care.
During this event, UPMC Magee-Womens physicians, including Gerald Harkins, M.D., Gretchen Makai, M.D. and Timothy Deimling, M.D., MSc, will provide information about:
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Related Gynecological Conditions
- Surgical Menopause and Hormone Therapy
- Medical intervention
The keynote speaker, Karen Tang, MD, MPH, will focus on the topic of navigating the internet and social media for endometriosis awareness. Tang is a board-certified gynecologist and minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon who is an internationally recognized leader in reproductive health. Tang’s debut book, It’s Not Hysteria: Everything You Need to Know About Your Reproductive Health (But Were Never Told) will be published in May.
The session will also include roundtable discussions on the following topics:
- Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy with Colleen Hickey MHA, MS, PT
- Sex Therapy with Andreya Jones, Ph.D., LCSW, CST
- Fertility with Kara Khanh-Ha D. Nguyen, M.D., M.P.H
- Nutrition with Dana M. Elia, DCN, MS, RDN, LDN, FAND
The cost to attend is $15 per person which will go toward a fund to benefit endometriosis patients in need. Lunch will be provided.
