Fire, EMS Grants Awarded to Support First Responders

CHAMBERSBURG- More than $175,000 in grant money awarded this week in the 90th District will support fire companies and emergency medical services as they address building projects, purchase or repair equipment, conduct training, or reduce existing debt.

Established by the Legislature, the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All funding comes from the proceeds generated by slot machine gaming.

Recipient companies in the 90th District include:

  • Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad (for EMS), $15,000
  • Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad (for fire service), $15,395
  • MMP&W Fire Co. (for EMS), $15,000
  • MMP&W Fire Co. (for fire service), $15,006
  • Mont Alto Ambulance Association, $15,000
  • Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department, $14,423
  • Greencastle Rescue Hose Co., $13,061
  • South Mountain Volunteer Fire & Ambulance (for EMS), $15,000
  • South Mountain Volunteer Fire & Ambulance (for fire service), $14,617
  • Waynesboro Ambulance Squad, $15,000
  • Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department, $28,979

Funding amounts are contingent on recipients filing grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
