CHAMBERSBURG- Downtown Chambersburg Inc. is excited to share that downtown’s GearHouse Brewing Co continues to grow and offer the community new and exciting additions.
In recent years, they’ve added and renovated their Hopyard, refreshed their Market Room and are currently renovating their Taproom 2 and Taproom 3.
But that’s not all.
Coming soon, they will be opening the doors to Standard by GearHouse Brewing at 370 Philadelphia Avenue.
“It will be a full service retail and wholesale bakery (everything from bread, rolls, savory baked goods, and sweets). Also a cafe with drinks & sandwiches using fresh and local ingredients that are seasonal. Chef Geoff Cooper will be leading the kitchen and we are excited to share our vision with you soon.
We look forward to bringing this wonderful structure back to its mostly original appearance and provide an example of adapt and reuse at the entrance to our vibrant downtown,” said LaVan Gray, President of GearHouse Brewing Co.
Mane & Co. has taken a keen interest in revitalizing many downtown buildings and chose this Philadelphia Avenue property for purchase as a key entryway into our downtown and is excited to work with GearHouse. This project will add another feather to Mane & Co’s list of redeveloped properties.
“We purchased the property in 2018 with a plan to redevelop the north point as it is a visible and historical building at the north entrance of downtown. We have held it for this partnership specifically. This project will have a positive impact on the continued efforts to revitalize downtown and Mane and Co couldn’t be more excited to partner with GearHouse as they expand into this location and provide downtown chambersburg with another quality dining experience that we all know them for,” owner, real estate developer, Josh Blankenship.
As announced by Borough Manager Jeffrey Stonehill via X, the Borough is currently reviewing an application for the purposes of securing Occupancy and Food Facility permits
LaVan and his team are excited to work with Josh Blankenship and the Mane & Co team on repurposing and adapting this building and bringing back past elements.
“We are always excited to see our downtown buildings brought back to life. Josh Blankenship and Mane & Co found a great partner in the GearHouse Brewing Co team. They both share a common vision of bringing life to old buildings and they both have successfully completed adaptive reuse projects. This project will add the much-needed bakery to our growing community. We can’t not wait until we can try the fresh, locally sourced bagels and other items Standard by GearHouse Brewing will bring!,” said Sam Thrush, President of Downtown Chambersburg Inc.
