CHAMBERSBURG- The application deadline for the Esther Wagner Scholarship offered through the Women’s Democratic Club of Franklin County is March 1st. Esther Wagner, a longtime member of the WDCFC, has been a champion of a wide range of issues geared toward improving every aspect of people’s lives. Her efforts have focused on ensuring that women’s perspectives and aspirations are recognized in all areas of government and public service. Her lifetime of service to the community and dedication to the Democratic party is unparalleled.
The annual scholarship grant of $500 or more will be awarded to a Franklin County, PA resident and high school senior in good academic standing. If over 18, applicant must be a registered Democrat. If ineligible to vote, at least one parent or legal guardian must be registered as a Democrat. Applicant will provide a letter of recommendation from school personnel or the community (e.g., counselor, teacher, coach, mentor, supervisor, clergy.) Along with the completed application, applicant will submit an official school transcript confirming GPA and class rank. The WDCFC was founded in 1931 to ensure the election / appointment of Democratic women to positions of authority in all branches of government, and to promote the advancement of women in both public and private sectors.
