GREENCASTLE- The Greencastle Antrim Volunteer Fire Department has recently introduced updated Scott self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) into service, thanks to funding from a Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighter Grant and the Greencastle Antrim Volunteer Firefighters Relief Association. The new 5500 psi/45 minute units were made possible through the collaborative efforts of the two organizations, with Fire Rescue Products staff conducting testing and training on the equipment. The updated SCBAs are a crucial addition to the department’s firefighting arsenal, providing enhanced respiratory protection for firefighters during emergency response operations. The introduction of this advanced equipment underscores the ongoing commitment of the fire department to prioritize the safety and well-being of its personnel, as well as its dedication to maintaining high standards of operational readiness and effectiveness.
