Naturalist and Institute educator, Beth Skroban will lead a family hike along part of the Appalachian Trail on Sunday, Jan. 28.

WAYNESBORO- The Institute invites area families on a free, guided winter hike along the Appalachian Trail on Sunday, Jan. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. as part of their Naturalist Discovery Series of programs.

Led by an Institute naturalist, hikers will explore some of the wonders to be found in the woods and along the byways.

“We are fortunate to live in an area that the legendary Appalachian Trail crosses through in several nearby locations,” said Pam Rowland, Institute education director and program organizer.

The hike is the first in a series of four Appalachian Trail hikes planned for the last Sunday of each month through April.

The January and February hikes are geared for families with children age 10 and older. Later hikes will welcome younger kids.

The event is free but pre-registration is required. Register online at The Institute’s website:  www.natureandcultureinstitute.org. The meeting place for the hike will be sent after registration.
