HARRISBURG – Rep. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) announced the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) approved an $8.4 million low-interest loan to the Washington Township Municipal Authority for an ongoing water quality project.

The funding would be used to help maintain consistent water levels by:

· Installing around 9,700 feet of new ductile iron water main between the Brookdale Water Treatment Plant and the Pine Hill tank.

· Inserting nearly 4,800 feet of new water main between the new Pine Hill booster pumping station and the distribution system that feeds the Tall tank.

· Decommissioning the Green Ridge tank.

· Relocating the Green Ridge booster pumping station to the Pine Hill tank.

“The Washington Township Municipal Authority has been working a long time to bring this significant improvement to its system. The approval of this loan will prove the Authority with the resources it needs to continue to ensure an ample supply of clean water to its customers. I want to congratulate the Washington Township Municipal Authority on this significant news,” said Schemel.

Founded in 1988, PENNVEST provides grants and low-interest loans for design, engineering and construction of publicly and privately owned drinking water distribution and treatment facilities, as well as storm water and wastewater projects.
