HAGERSTOWN, MD – Washington County residents looking to dispose of waste at the Forty West Landfill should be prepared to pay with cash or check, as credit card payments are currently unavailable due to technical issues.

The Washington County Government Solid Waste Department announced the temporary suspension of credit card payments today, citing ongoing problems with the landfill’s payment system.

Residents can still dispose of waste at the landfill using cash or check. The landfill’s hours of operation remain unchanged.

The outage comes at a particularly inconvenient time, just days before Christmas and during a period of increased holiday waste generation. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and bring alternative payment methods if needed.

The Solid Waste Department urges residents to check their website or social media pages for updates on the situation. Additionally, they can call the department at (301) 791-3319 with any questions or concerns.

While the cause of the outage remains unclear, the department assures residents that they are working diligently to restore credit card payments as soon as possible. This news serves as a reminder to always have alternative payment methods readily available, especially during periods of high demand.
