CHAMBERSBURG – The Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation is accepting applications for its nine-month adult leadership course known as Leadership Franklin County (LFC) Community.

The program offers training to professionals in the areas of leadership development, community needs and building teamwork through service opportunities with local nonprofits. The LFC Community course engages with local business and community leaders at monthly sessions and nurtures the students to thrive individually and professionally.

“Since 1985, this is one of the most unique leadership courses in our region because we focus specifically on the challenges and opportunities facing Franklin County,” Virginia Harriger, executive director of the Chamber Foundation, said. “Our program empowers adults to get involved and become long-term community leaders while expanding their network of contacts.”

The cost to participate in the program is $1,500 per person; there is a limited number of availablescholarships provided by the LFC Alumni. The course begins in September 2024 with a two-day team-building retreat and includes monthly sessions during the workday from October through May.

Students will be divided into teams to work on a project with a local nonprofit during the course, which is separate from the monthly sessions. All students will present the results of their team project at the graduation ceremony in May 2025. Students can expect to receive leadership training, learn how to maximize work in teams and expand their knowledge of key areas of Franklin County.

Applications are due by Thursday, March 28, 2024, followed by a competitive interview process. To apply or learn more about the program, visit Chambersburg.org/Leadership or contact Ginny Harriger at [email protected]. Special thanks to F&M Trust for their ongoing sponsorship of the LFC Community program.
