WAYNESBORO– The Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. (“WVFD”) held a special thank-you event to publicly express their gratitude to WellSpan Health for their exceptional generosity in providing a $200,000 donation over the last five years.

The Department purchased a 2018 Pierce Arrow Ladder Truck at a total cost of $965,000 to replace an aging 2005 Sutphen 70+ Mid-Mount Quint Ladder Truck.  This donation significantly reduced the debt obligation of the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.

Nikki Hinckle, Senior Vice President of WellSpan Health, Western Region and Melissa Dubrow, President, WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital, attended the event and accepted a bronze plaque from the WVFD to permanently commemorate the WellSpan investment in the safety and security of the community as well as the generous philanthropy of WellSpan Health.

The WVFD also specifically thanked two individuals with the former Summit Health organization who were instrumental in securing this donation to the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.  Mr. Jeffery Carty, then Vice President of Finance, and Kim Rzomp, then Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Summit Health, were instrumental in securing this generous donation for the apparatus.
Waynesboro area WellSpan Health facilities, as well as all residents and businesses of the Waynesboro area, will be directly serviced by this truck should a need arise.

“We are immensely grateful to WellSpan Health for their extraordinary commitment to the well-being of our community. This donation goes beyond dollars; it is an investment in the safety and security of our residents,” said Dave Martin, Assistant Treasurer, of the Waynesboro Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.  “This Ladder Truck will serve as a crucial tool in our mission to protect and serve the residents and businesses of the Borough of Waynesboro and surrounding communities.  In partnership with generous donors such as WellSpan Health, we feel well-positioned to continue this mission for many years to come.”
