WAYNESBORO- The town of Waynesboro is gearing up for the holiday season with a variety of festive events, including the annual tree lighting on Friday, Nov. 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the square in downtown Waynesboro.
The event will feature family-friendly activities, music, and entertainment. DJ Tiny Michaels from Wayz 104.7 will be the emcee for the evening. There will also be plenty of free candy, oranges, hot cocoa, cookies, and treats.
In addition to the tree lighting, there will be expanded hours for downtown businesses, carriage rides from Rocky Ridge Farms, and a Mainstreet Sweets and Treats market open from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The market will feature 14 vendors and 4-5 food trucks.
Santa and his elves will also be making appearances around town.
The 2023 Land O’ Christmas and Santa Workshop will also be open Friday, Nov. 17, from 4 to 9 p.m. The workshop is located at the Counting House, 10 W. Main St. in Waynesboro. The workshop will be open Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. through Dec. 10, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to Dec. 3. The final day of the workshop will be Sunday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Raffles will also be held to benefit the WALL Club’s projects. The raffle drawing will be held Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 PM. You do not need to be present to win.
The 66th Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. The parade will form on CV Avenue near Turkey Hill and head east to Broad Street, then head south on Broad and disband at Memorial Park. The parade is Waynesboro’s biggest and has more than 70 entries. There will be plenty of music, bright lights, candy, and of course, Santa Claus.
The Waynesboro Tree Lighting is a free event for families and is sure to get everyone into the holiday spirit.
