David Thompson introduced the speaker. Steve Thomas is the Director of the Franklin County Planning Office. Currently, the Planning Office is finalizing the draft of the County’s Comprehensive Plan; such plans are redone every 10 years. The new plan’s comment period ends on 9/12 and will go before the County Commissioners for a hearing. Following any revisions, the Commissioners will consider approval and adoption. The Planning Office is also involved in transportation planning, vector control (including mosquito control), farmland preservation, waste management planning and other critical planning functions.
