HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Washington County Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) has announced the 2023 Great Pumpkin of Washington County, MD Challenge. This event invites the citizens of Washington County, MD to showcase their expertise in cultivating pumpkins and exhibit their skills to the entire State of Maryland.
To participate in the contest, interested individuals must register their pumpkin by August 1, 2023. The contest will take place in October, where the pumpkins will be measured and weighed at their respective locations using an industrial scale. The trophies for the 2023 Great Pumpkin of Washington County, MD Challenge will be awarded on October 21, 2023, at Antietam Pumpkins, located at 4410 Harpers Ferry Road, Sharpsburg, MD. Trophies will be awarded based on size, including weight, in the following classes:
- Children Class, 17 and under
- Adult Class, 18-61 years of age
- Senior Class, 62 and above
