FROSTBURG- Frostburg State University (FSU) recently hosted the 2023 STEM Summit from June 20-23, where high school students from Allegany and Somerset Counties participated in a scientific problem related to a hypothetical deep space mission. The nineteen student participants received instruction in several fields of science taught by FSU faculty members and undergraduate teaching assistants over the course of three days.

The purpose of the summit was to develop more interest among young people in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as academic areas of interest and as a profession. Planning is currently underway for the 2024 FSU STEM Summit.

Funding for the project was provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission, Northrop Grumman, and the Frostburg State University Foundation.
