CHAMBERSBURG – Please be advised that Fayetteville Contractors will soon begin construction work on the Center Street Improvements Project, Phase 2.
The Center Street Improvements Project involves total reconstruction of Center Street, from Hood Street to Reservoir Street, to include installation of a new storm sewer system, curbs, sidewalks with ADA curb ramps and reconstruction of the street with Full Depth Reclamation base course and standard asphalt wearing course.
The project is funded with a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) awarded by the Town Council. As such, property owners within the project area will not have to pay for the new curbs and sidewalks that are installed.
In 2022, Scott’s Hauling and Excavating completed Phase 1 of the project, which included installation of a new storm sewer system.
Fayetteville Contractors will complete Phase 2, which includes the remaining storm sewer system improvements, curbs, sidewalks with ADA curb ramps. It is important to note that Phase 2 does not does not include final pavement of the street, which will hopefully be completed later this year or during the 2024 construction season.
Phase 2 construction activity will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Center Street will remain open for local traffic only, however, the street may be closed for short periods of time during certain phases of construction. Also, parking will be prohibited at various times to allow construction work to be done.
The Borough of Chambersburg and Fayetteville Contractors apologize in advance for this inconvenience and thank vehicle operators for your patience while street construction work takes place.
