HAGERSTOWN, MD. – The Washington County Chamber of Commerce young professionals’ group, GenNext is proudly welcoming a new Chair, Sydney Clark, Hagerstown Branch Manager and Client Relations Manager of Clark Computer Services.
Clark is excited to join the Board of Directors for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce as an ex-officio member and the Chair of GenNext. GenNext is the Chamber’s young professionals’ group designed to benefit members of our community from the ages of 21-39 through professional development events, networking, community involvement through volunteer initiatives, casual group outings, and more. She is also an ex-officio Board Member for the Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown and serves as their chair of Public Relations.
Prior to moving to Greencastle, Clark worked as a second level Marketing Research Advisor at CoStar Group. There she managed a marketing and research portfolio of over $9 billion worth of commercial real estate transactions. She held many captains’ roles for special projects including managing her regional news team and publishing a series of 27 news articles on the CoStar website and editing dozens more.
Clark graduated summa cum laude from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA with a double major in Business Finance and Applied Economics, along with a certificate in Leadership Studies from the school’s Batten Leadership Institute. She was involved in three honors societies, Omicron Delta Kappa, Chi Alpha Sigma, and Omicron Delta Epsilon, captained the varsity lacrosse team for two years, and won several departmental awards. Her senior thesis was published and can be found in the Hollins Digital Commons.
Outside of her professional interests, Clark loves spending her free time with her husband, Joe, and her 2 cats and 2 dogs. She is an avid runner and weightlifter. She is passionate about politics and has goals of one day working for the federal government or running for office.
Stephen Schutte, Account Manager for Shentel Glo Fiber, was instrumental in keeping the GenNext group going strong during the worse moments of the pandemic, and helped carry out numerous engaging professional development events and volunteer activities for the group. He was the face of the group for quite some time, welcoming new members eagerly, and connecting the group to influential members of our community.
Schutte is passing off the GenNext Chair position to Clark with pride and is officially a voting At-Large Board Member for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he is President of the Washington County Free Library, and holds a position on Star Community’s Board, plus he is involved with the Hagerstown Youth Council, and Kiwanis.
