Making A Mug Rug

Preserving Memories Through Scrapbooking

Join us as Author Sue James shares how she started her writing career, how it developed, and how she chose what she was going to write about. A limited number of Sue’s books will be available to purchase at this event. ALL PROCEEDS FROM SALES will be donated to the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library. This is a win-win for the community and for the library! This program is free and open to the public (all ages).

Senior Hooks & Needles

Paint & Sip

Beautiful stained-glass windows, lamps, and other works of art are enjoyed by millions. And shaped in a heart just in time for Valentine’s Day! Join us for our upcoming Paint & Sip program where we will be painting this beautiful painting! And best of all, you get to take your wonderful creation home with you at the end of the class. Materials are supplied. Spaces are limited so you will want to stop by the library to pay your registration fee and sign up. This is a program tailored for adult participants, not children.

When All Else Fails…..Body Groove

Want to get in some exercise, but can’t afford or don’t like gyms? Can’t dance but you can move? Want to get in a little exercise (that doesn’t feel like exercise)? Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and come groove at the library. This fun program will be video led with library staff providing fun & encouragement. And the beautiful thing is everyone works at their own pace! This program is free but registration is required at the library.

Anime Club
Teens ages 12-18, do you love to watch anime, read manga, and even draw characters? Join us for Anime Club on February 1st at 4:00 PM, at the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library. We will be making customized anime/kawaii notebooks. Join us for Anime Club on February 15th at 4:00 PM, at the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library. We will be making shrinky dink keychains.
Anime Club is a regular program at the library on 1st & 3rd Wednesdays.
We read & discuss our favorite / least favorite manga, choose anime shows & movies to watch together, and do various games, crafts, & other activities related to Japanese culture.

Art Saturday Kits
Teens and pre-teens, stop by the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library on Saturday February 18th to pick up your free art kit, featuring all the supplies you will need to make the project of the month.
Art Saturday Kits are a regular take-home program at the library on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Kits are available for pickup on the 3rd Saturday & the following week or as long as supplies last. First come, first served & one kit per person please.
Kits consist of a paper bag containing all (or most of) the supplies you’ll need to complete an art or craft project at home. The instructions are usually via a video link (also posted on our social media).
Art Kits are geared towards teens ages 12-18, but older kids are welcome to give it a try, too.

Homeschool Club
Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library hosts a parent-led Homeschool Enrichment Club, Thursdays 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Participants in grades K-12 participate in art activities, STEM challenges, and more, in the library’s MakerSpace. Each week has a different theme, with teens & kids sometimes splitting into groups, or staying together, depending on the activities. Activities are subject to change, since club members will be brainstorming and voting on what they’d like to do next throughout the year.

Local Author Visit: Kalee Oravec
March 7th, 4:00 PM – Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library invites you to meet local author Kalee Oravec, who will speak about her YA fiction book, What We Need to Survive. Kalee will talk about how she got her ideas for the book, why she chose to write about PTSD & mental health, and how she got started as a writer. She will also do a short creative writing activity, followed by a book signing with books available for purchase ($15 each—cash, check, or Venmo). This event is geared towards both adults and teens.

Spanish Club
Last Spanish Club at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library, Friday, February 3rd at 3:30 PM. Have you always wanted to learn Spanish conversation? Are you curious about Latino and Hispanic cultures? Join the Spanish Club! Sign up at the library to join. Open to ages 9 & up. E-mail Ana Herrera at [email protected] for Q&A.

Pokemon Club
Kids and Teens ages 9-18, Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library invites you to join us on Saturday, February 11th, 1:30-2:45 PM for Pokemon Club! This club is dedicated to battling via the Pokemon card game. If you don’t already know how to play, leaders Chad & Kurt Ewell will teach you everything you need to know! Feel free to bring your own deck if you have one. We will also have decks here.
Pokemon Club is a regular library program on 2nd Saturdays, 1:30-2:45 PM in the 2nd floor Community Room.

Teen Game Nights (Online)
Teens ages 13-18, do you have a smartphone, tablet, PC, and/or console that you play games on? Do you have online games to play & no one to play with? Looking for a game to play but don’t know where to start?
Join us on Tuesday, February 14th, 28th at 5:45 PM, on the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library’s Teen Discord to see what games are happening! We play online multiplayer games such as Among Us, Jackbox, Unfortunate Spacemen, Gartic Phone, Minecraft, and more. Put in your vote for what you want to play!

To join us, you’ll need to be a member of AHMFL’s Teen Discord, since this is how we meet up, choose games, & share codes to access our game lobbies. To become a member, teens must return a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian. Please contact AHMFL Teen Librarian Miss Gina at (717) 762-3335 to request a slip. Unfortunately, Discord has a strict age 13+ policy, so we direct 12-yr-old patrons to try our in-person Game Nights instead, until they turn 13.
Online Teen Game Nights are a regular program on alternating Tuesdays, 5:45-6:45 PM.

Join Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library on Tuesday February 28th for our latest “In the Kitchen” video with Teen Services Librarian Miss Gina. These videos are geared towards teens, those new to cooking, and anyone who likes new ideas for easy and (mostly) healthy recipes!

This is a regular library video series on Fridays, where Teen Services Librarian Miss Gina shares a variety of reading material that is fun for teens, including short stories, & excerpts from longer books—mostly fiction, with some nonfiction thrown in.

Tuesday February 28th at 6:00 PM – Read to a dog at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library! Did you know that reading to trained therapy dogs can increase a person’s desire and ability to read? Bring books from home or choose from our selection. Location: AHMFL Community Room. All ages welcome.

Kids’ LEGO Club
LEGO Club for ages 5-11 will meet at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library on Thursday, February 2nd at 4:00 PM.
LEGO Club is a regular library programs on 1st Thursdays, 4:00-5:00 PM and meets in the library’s MakerSpace. We have a new building challenge or activity each month! Bring Legos from home OR use the Legos at the Library.
