5 Things to do This Weekend: Sept. 9-11

Catch a tune. Vickie Weagly performs Friday, Sept. 9, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Music Makers. A native of Waynesboro, Weagly now resides in the Shepherdstown, WV area. She has taught music in the public schools for more than 30 years and now enjoys golfing and performing music in her spare time. Her song repertoire is made up of soft rock songs spanning from the 1950s to the 1980s and includes more recent selections as well. Vickie accompanies herself on guitar or keyboard and uses percussion tracks that she has created.

Take in a movie. The Maugansville Ruritan Free Family Movie in the Park will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9. The Wild Life (PG-1:31) is an animated film about a parrot who tells the tale of how Robinson Crusoe became stranded on an island. Admission is by donation. A concession stand will be available.

From wings to wheels. The 2022 Hagerstown Wings and Wheels Expo will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum. The event will feature aircraft from the Berlin Airlift, a large display of warbirds, modern aircraft, classic cars, trucks, RC model aircraft and more, plus music and food. Parking is free. Admission is a $5 suggested donation.

Go get the meats. South Mountain Volunteer Fire Company will host the Fall Big Meat Drawing Saturday, Sept. 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the fire company. The event includes $150 – $500 gift certificates for various butcher shops, plus every 10th ticket pulled receives $20 cash. Tickets are $20, meal and refreshments included.

Get your ghost on. A Haunted House Audition is being held Saturday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at Lakeside Hall, Fort Ritchie. This is an open casting call. Bring a form of ID and if you are a minor your parent must be present. Costumes are 100% okay but not required.
