WAYNESBORO–The 26th Summer Jubilee and Fireworks celebration is just around the corner, with a slate of activities for the community.

“We are so excited to announce the comeback celebration of the year, the Waynesboro Summer Jubilee on July 4, 2022,” said Holly Miller, secretary of the Jubilee committee. “To say we are proud to be able to bring this back to our community, after having to cancel the past two years due to the pandemic, is an understatement.”

Summer Jubilee provides a full day of free entertainment, exhibits and activities on Monday, July 4.

The day begins with the popular Kid’s Mile Fun Run at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Firecracker 5K run at 8 a.m. The race award presentation will be held at 9 a.m.

The annual parade, sponsored this year by the Brothers of the Brush, will begin at 9:30 a.m..

More than 45 craft and food vendors will be on hand from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., plus children’s games, musical entertainment with live bands–including Nashville artist Ruthie Collins—plus patriotic activities.

There will also be a kid’s game and craft tent, along with the inflatables. (Donations will be accepted but not required.)

The festival will conclude with the annual fireworks display at dusk.

Volunteers are still needed for the events, according to Miller.

“We’ve been blessed to always have strong people step up. It’s one of our community’s defining characteristics,” she said. “There are still jobs available on our website that will help make everything go smoothly. Just a few hours from a lot of people makes a big difference.”

Miller said funding for the event comes from community support.

“All the money needed to fund the Summer Jubilee comes from the generous support of our sponsors and individual donors.” She explained. “We do not receive any government funding, so we’re looking for donations and contributions all year long.”

To make a donation to the event, checks may be made payable to the Waynesboro Summer Jubilee, Inc and mailed to 118 Walnut St, Suite 111, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
