LURGAN – The second bridge of a two-bridge rehabilitation project on Maclays Mill Road (Route 4018) in Lurgan and Southampton townships, is set to begin next week.

This project consists of the rehabilitation of two structures on Maclays Mill Road – a three-span masonry arch bridge spanning Conodoguinet Creek, and an adjacent two-span masonry arch bridge spanning a nearby mill race.

The two-span structure was completed last year. Work on the three-span structure is expected to start beginning Monday, April 4.

Work initially will involve the construction of a causeway. The road will remain open for this part of the project. However, there may be brief impacts such as short-term lane restrictions or stoppages.

Then, on Monday, April 25, the bridge will be closed and a detour of up to 145 days will be in place using Maclays Mill Road, Dream Highway Road, Mongul Road, Roxbury Road, and Mongul Hill Road.

All work is expected to be completed by September 27, 2022.

JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the prime contractor on this $1.487,570 project.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting 511PA. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
