SHADY GROVE—Santa’s Rotary elves have been busy preparing toys for area children.

Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Waynesboro met recently at Hurley Auctions to bundle toys purchased for 171 children by club members.

On Saturday, the crew distributed 350 gifts to the children.

“Many of the families drove to Hurley Auctions where family packages were carried directly to their vehicles” said Tracy Holliday, chairperson for the Rotary Club of Waynesboro’s annual Toys for Children program. “Some families were not able to come on Saturday due to work or care commitments, so all remaining packages were moved to Waynesboro Community and Human Services where they can be picked up at more convenient times.”

Holliday said the club was assisted by WCHS, WASHS National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and others who brought a joyful spirit of giving.

“There is nothing quite like the way faces light up when you say, ‘Merry Christmas’ with your arms loaded with bags of gifts while loading a trunk or back seat,” Holliday said.
