Whether Kolston Piper plans on charging into hand-to-hand combat or simply just wants to show off the sturdy new item in his trophy case, the Greencastle-Antrim wrestler is prepared.
Piper ventured out to Chambersburg for the Middle School Trojan Wars and marched to the championship at 122 pounds. He posted a 6-0 record, with four of those wins coming by bonus. The coveted championship trophy — a trojan helmet — became Piper’s after he dispatched his opponent in the final by a 19-3 technical fall in 4:15.
With Piper leading the charge, the Blue Devils posted 148 points to finish eighth in the field of 33 teams. Greencastle sent four others to the awards stand: Noah Winebrenner (2nd at 250), Ethan Allen (3rd at 138), Tucker Mongan (5th at 190), and Dawson Lobley (8th at 130).
Chambersburg took 18th at the Trojan Wars, a performance that was fueled by medalist finishes from Julian Callejas (3rd at 250), James Kearns (7th at 250), Tristan Osbaugh (8th at 155), and Sebastian Zubia (8th at 108).
On the youth wrestling front, Waynesboro traveled to Mifflin County for a CPWA Quad. The Tribe got a solid performance from the JV wrestlers, with 14 conquering their exhibition brackets: Jameson McCleaf (6U), Savannah Stoner (6U), Oliver Sanders (6U), Byron Mummert (8U), Parker Hollar (8U), Abe Carver (8U), Grayson Purdum (10U), Leo Kutchey (10U), Layla Ott (10U), Jeziah Smalls (10U), Stephen Bryan (10U), Addilynn Warnick (12U), Raylan Shaw (12U), and Jaxon Rogers (12U)
