South Hagerstown at Urbana, 6

Last week: South Hagerstown (4-6) defeated Wootton, 14-7 in overtime; Urbana (6-4) defeated Tuscarora, 56-0 in the first round of the playoffs

Notes: South has won three of the last four games against Urbana after losing the first two. The series ran from 2009-18, mostly when Urbana was starting its program. … South Hagerstown is the fourth seed and Urbana is the top seed as the MPSSAA Class 4A/3A West Regional reaches its second week. The winner of this game will advance to the state quarterfinals. The opponent will be decided after the final eight teams are reseeded. … South has won its last two games … Urbana has won four of its last five games with the only loss coming in Week 9 against Linganore, the top-seeded team in the Class 3A West bracket. … South has scored 150 points (15.0 per game) while allowing 206 (20.6). Meanwhile, Urbana has scored 328 points (32.8 per game) while allowing 192 (19.2). … It the Rebels are going to go, they follow JoJo. That’s Josiah Davis, South’s senior running back. Davis overcame a turf toe injury from a week earlier and came back twice from a knee injury during the game against Wootton to lead the Rebels to the win. … Davis returned the second time with 3:42 remaining in the third quarter and ran four straight times, finishing with an 11-yard sweep down the left sideline for to tie the game at 7-7. He scored what proved to be the game-winning points on the first play of overtime, going 10-yards along the right end of the line and breaking on tackle for the 14-7 victory. …. Jeremiah Welch was equally as important to South on the defensive side. The defensive back leveled a Wootton runner on a sweep, causing the fumble that set up Davis’ first score. He backed up with third-down stop on Wootton’s overtime possession at the 3. The Patriots missed fired on the fourth-down pass to give South the win. … Defensive back Julius Rowe halted another Wootton drive with an interception. … Davis was Washington County’s leading rusher this season … Urbana spread out the offense against Tuscarora. … Quarterback Joshua White connected on 9 of 11 passes for 134 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those scores were caught by Hunter Hirai, who had three catches for 30 yards. … The Hawks rushed for 205 yards, led by Ryder Smart with eight carries for 72 yards. … Urbana picked off three interceptions and blocked a punt to turn the game its way. … Smart leads the Hawks with 437 yards rushing, but Urbana has five players with at least 200 yards on the ground. Joshua White, who has 242 yards, leads the Hawks with nine rushing touchdowns. White is also Urbana’s top quarterback, hitting on 57 of 110 passes for 914 yards and 17 touchdowns, with just one interception. … Jayden Sharper is the top receiving target with 21 receptions for 482 yards and six touchdowns. Kiegan Rupinta also has six receiving TDs. … Sharper has 10 interceptions for the Hawks, who have 17 picks to their credit. The defense has also recovered nine fumbles.

North Hagerstown at Linganore, 6:30

Last week: North Hagerstown (6-4) defeated fifth-seeded Northwood 43-7; Linganore (10-0) advanced with a bye in the first round of the playoffs

Meanwhile, Linganore has scored 396 (39.6 per game) while allowing 108 (10.8). … In North’s win over Northwood, linebacker Damean Thomas had 14 tackles to set the Hubs’ career record for hits with 297. He surpassed 16-year-old record owned by Greg Phoebus (2007-09) with 294 tackles. … The Hubs made quick work of Northwood by taking a 36-0 halftime lead … Six different Hubs found the end zone, five with rushing touchdowns. Michael Steart (50 yards), James Jackson (27), Ben Distefano (5), Ty’Qwell Fauntleroy (35) and Tai Gilliam (5) each had one. Garrett Forrest caught a 20-yard pass for quarterback Colt Butts for the other score. … North only ran 23 plays, good for 281 yards, in the game. … Stewart led North’s run game with 94 yards, while Fauntleroy added 71. Fauntleroy leads the Hubs with 171 carries for 1,057 yards and 15 touchdowns. Stewart is second with 611 yards and four scores. North has rushed 380 times for 2,045 yards as a team. … Blake Custer led the Hubs’ defense with 20 tackles followed by Thomas with 14 (six were for losses). Chris Benford had 13 hits and Toni Abonge added 11. … Butts has completed 55 passes for 844 yards and six TDs this season … Jackson lead North with 229 receiving yards, while Forrest had three receiving TDs. … The Hubs’ defense held Northwood to 143 yards, including a 60-yard TD which came on the final offensive play of the game. … The Hubs played without Bryant Noubissie, who was injured against South Hagerstown. He has averaged 17.5 tackles with eight sacks and four forced fumbles in six games. … Thomas is the top tackler with 124 tackles, while Custer has 123. … Linganore enters the game after a week off, but defeated Urbana 28-7 in the final regular season game. The Lancers score a touchdown in each quarter the Hawks. … Bradly Matthews had two touchdowns and Chase Perry caught a pass for a score. … According to Lancers’ published stats, Matthews leads the Lancers with 1,033 yards and 19 touchdowns in six games. Linganore is credited with 1,144 yards for the season. … Linganore has scored at least 28 points in each of its nine games.

The opponent will be decided after the final eight teams are reseeded.  … Loch Raven has won two of its last three games to end a five-game losing streak. … Boonsboro is on a three-game winning streak … Loch Raven is from Towson, Md. … Loch Raven has scored 152 points (15.2 per game) while allowing 183 (18.3). Meanwhile, Boonsboro has scored 361 (36.1) while allowing 202 (20.2). … The Warriors jumped to an early 14-0 lead, fueled by two special teams touchdowns. Logan Atkinson ran the opening kickoff back 60 yards for one and Jayden Paugh returned a punt 27 yards for the second. Boonsboro’s win over Western Tech was fueled by seven different players scoring, led by Atkinson and Paugh with two each. … Quarterback Blake Main threw for one touchdown, ran for another and rushed for a two-point conversion. He completed both passes threw for 96 yards and a TD. … Atkinson scored on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter and Paugh pulled in a 49-yard score from Main, each for their second touchdowns. … Edward Boakye, Jadon King, Parker DeBaugh and Justin Pazos all added touchdowns. … Atkinson added 14 tackles on defense while Elijah Weddle led Boonsboro with 14 1/2.
