GREENCASTLE – There is parity in the Mid-Penn Colonial Division.
Almost.
Defending division champion Northern York started the 2025 season like it left off in the 2024 season. The Polar Bears carded a low score of 333, only one stroke ahead of James Buchanan. The Rockets had the top two overall scorers, as Taylor Blair shot 74 and Abram Stock carded a 75.
The meet was hosted by Greencastle-Antrim and played at Greencastle Greens.
Waynesboro, playing without Abby Byers (who was competing in an all-girls tournament at the same time as the Colonial Division meet), finished in sixth place with a 357. Landon Crable had the team’s low score of 81.
“We had a rough start to the season,” said Waynesboro coach Ryan Henderson. “However, we were missing Abby Byers, who was at an all-girls tournament at Penn National. Abby won the tournament, shooting 40 for nine holes. When we get her back for our next match, we should finish a lot higher than sixth.”
Shippensburg was fourth, followed by Greencastle-Antrim and Gettysburg. Big Spring finished in last place.
“Landon played a solid round for the team,” Henderson said. “He got to even par after his first seven or eight holes. He finished with an 81, which was our team best.
“Caiden Shacreaw made a few double bogies, which cost him several shots. However, his score was still solid enough for second place for the team. I expect good things from those two this season.”
Shacreaw finished with an 87.
