WAYNESBORO — Pam Bilger, a Waynesboro resident juggling homeschooling for her special-needs son and care for her elderly mother, is competing in this year’s Fab Over 40 contest to spotlight breast cancer awareness.
The national competition, which benefits the National Breast Cancer Foundation, celebrates women over 40 for their inner and outer strength while raising funds for research, education and patient support.
Bilger, a devoted caregiver, said the experience has taught her the importance of self-care amid daily demands.
“I’ve spent years putting everyone else first — my son, my mom, my family, friends and even strangers,” Bilger said. “This experience has reminded me that it’s okay to carve out a little space for myself, too. I hope my story encourages other women — especially caregivers — to remember their worth and take time to breathe.”
The contest emphasizes resilience over appearance, honoring contestants who balance life’s trials with perseverance. Bilger aims to inspire fellow caregivers that personal dreams remain viable.
Voting opened recently, allowing one free daily vote per supporter via Bilger’s contest page at https://fabover40.org/2025/pam-0b8e.
For Bilger, success transcends victory; it’s about demonstrating that aspirations endure despite obstacles, while uplifting others.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation, founded in 1991, delivers early detection, education and support to those impacted by the disease, aiming to foster hope and save lives through accessible care.
