Waynesboro Mini-THON raises $11,331 for childhood cancer fight

WAYNESBORO – Waynesboro students came together with teamwork, dedication and generosity to support Four Diamonds Mini-THON®, raising $11,331 in the fight to conquer childhood cancer. Organizers expressed thanks for the support of sponsors, community partners and the hard work of students.

Mini-THON is a K-12 leadership initiative that empowers students to make a difference by fundraising and organizing a high-energy, multi-hour event inspired by Penn State’s Inter-Fraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON™).

“We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, families, and community members who made this event possible, ” said Junior Civitan Club Advisors Tracy Bonebrake-Millerand Denise McCleaf. “Their support brings hope and resources to children battling cancer and their families, making a lasting impact.”

Throughout the year, students developed skills in communication, problem-solving and teamwork, all while uniting their school and community behind pediatric cancer.

This year’s Waynesboro MiniTHON was eight hours filled with games, music, dancing, a talent show and other fun activities, creating a lasting experience for everyone involved. Beyond the excitement of the event itself, the funds raised will provide vital support for pediatric cancer patients and their families, covering medical expenses, research and family assistance through Four Diamonds.

With tens of thousands of student volunteers in more than 200 schools, Mini-THONs are making a real difference in the lives of those affected by pediatric cancer. Waynesboro’s MiniTHON is proud to be part of this powerful movement and looks forward to continuing its mission in the years to come.
