WAYNESBORO — Thousands gathered Friday evening in downtown Waynesboro for the annual Christmas tree lighting, kicking off the holiday season with music, dance and community spirit.
Vendors filled Main Street Park with seasonal crafts and goods, while food trucks lined the thoroughfare, offering warm treats amid the crisp November air. The event drew families and friends eager for festive cheer.
Waynesboro Senior High School’s choral group opened the performances with holiday carols, their voices echoing through the park. A&B Dance Dimensions followed with a graceful rendition of “The Nutcracker Suite,” delighting young and old alike. The band from Jesus Alive Ministries rounded out the entertainment with upbeat gospel tunes.
Mayor Dade Royer addressed the crowd, praising the community’s unity and generosity. State Rep. Chad G. Reichard joined him on stage, sharing words of holiday hope and local pride.
As excitement built, Bill Kohler led the countdown, his voice booming over the speakers. Steve and Diane Rock, along with their family — who donated the towering evergreen — flipped the switch, illuminating the tree in a cascade of colorful lights. Cheers erupted as the glow bathed the park in holiday magic.
