WAYNESBORO – Summer wouldn’t be summer in a small town without youth baseball.
And, now that Waynesboro Youth League’s regular season has run its course, it’s that time of year for all-star tournaments, of which the annual Boro Classic is one of them.
“The Classic has been going on for over 10 years at least,” said Danielle McFerren. “And it is not a qualifier for anything, just a tournament that we host each year for all-star players from local teams to come and participate in.”
The weekend of games at the Clayton Avenue ballfields gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday with an 8U game between Waynesboro and Fairfield.
There are six 8U games and 10U games on the schedule for Saturday. Championship games are on Sunday.
Daytime temperatures for all three days are expected to be in the upper 80s. The best chance of rain on Saturday is between 3:30 and 6 p.m. The chance of rain on Sunday is close to 50 percent between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.
