WAYNESBORO – The Waynesboro Maidens continue to compete like a well-oiled machine. On Tuesday, Jan. 20, Waynesboro hosted Shippensburg, and by meet’s end, the Maidens defeated the Greyhounds by the score of 114-56.
Mady Barker won two individual events and swam a leg on two winning relay events. Barker captured first place in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. She finished 22 seconds ahead of teammate Claire Yost in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.58. Barker completed the 100 backstroke in 1:07.87, which was 6.8 seconds in front of Shippensburg’s Madalyn Kauffman.
Barker led off the 200-medley relay, followed by Lili Moreno, Rylie Tritle, and Ruth Phillips. The team finished with a time of 2:03. 95, nearly 21 seconds ahead of second-place Shippensburg. The 200 freestyle relay team of Barker, Rylie Tritle, Vanna Keyser and Grace Wolfinger turned in a time of 2:04.65.
Ruth Phillips won the 100 freestyle and tied for first in the 50 freestyle.
In the boys’ meet, Waynesboro’s Andrew Bryan won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. He also swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay team and the 200 medley relay team.
Waynesboro is back in the pool Thursday at Halifax.
