SHIPPENSBURG – Downtown Shippensburg will transform into a hands-on adventure zone Saturday, May 31, as the annual Touch-a-Truck event rolls into town. The free event, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., invites families and children to climb, explore and interact with a variety of vehicles while enjoying activities, giveaways and community fun.
The day kicks off at the Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce at 68 W. King St., where attendees can check in to receive an event map, enter drawings for four big door prizes and pick up free swag while supplies last. Early arrivals will score drawstring bags, coloring books, crayons and water, with exclusive event T-shirts available for purchase.
Touch-a-Truck features multiple vehicle lots, each packed with trucks, emergency vehicles and equipment ready for curious hands and eager imaginations. Vendors and local businesses will be on site with information, treats and interactive activities. Families can take a break at the family comfort tent or cool off with Kona Ice.
Downtown businesses are joining the celebration with in-store specials, activities and donations, making the event a true community effort. Highlights include free popcorn at Pague & Fegan, the Coy Public Library’s annual Duck Derby, bubbles and coloring at The Cumberland Shop and living history programs at the Shippensburg History Center.
A sensory-friendly hour from 10 to 11 a.m. ensures everyone can join the fun. Restrooms are conveniently marked on the event map, and volunteers are still welcome to help make the day a success.
