CHAMBERSBURG – Pennsylvania State Police technicians will host free child car seat fitting events next week at Giant Foods in Chambersburg to promote child safety on the road.
The events, part of a month-long initiative throughout November, allow caregivers to have seats checked for suitability, receive hands-on installation guidance and have seats installed on-site, learn proper child harnessing techniques and verify seats for any recalls.
Certified technicians from the state police will be available at the Giant Foods parking lot at 925 Norland Ave. in Chambersburg from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18.
Officials emphasize that properly installed car seats can reduce the risk of injury in crashes by up to 71%, according to national safety data.
Caregivers are encouraged to bring their vehicles and car seats to the events for personalized assistance.
The initiative underscores the state police’s commitment to community safety, with similar fitting stations scheduled across Pennsylvania this month.
