The Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Company will close out its annual carnival on Saturday night, June 27th. Undeterred by the week of unpredictable weather, carnival-goers came out in droves to enjoy rides, games, food and music.
Tucked into 22 N. Main St. on the Fire Company’s lawn, the carnival began June 22 with Snyder’s Attractions setting up the rides, while the fire company offered concessions and Bingo inside the hall. Concessions boomed throughout the carnival with a large menu of options from hot dogs and burgers, to pit beef sandwiches and ice cream.

Helping make this event possible are over 20 local sponsors offering their support. Among the sponsors, Martins Food, Hadley Farms Bakery, Mace Auto Body Inc., Rocky Hill Produce and Sam’s Excavating.
Rides weren’t the only attraction for many locals, the carnival also hosted live performances beginning at 7 p.m. nightly. The evening of the 23rd featured the Mack Berry Band, followed by fireworks around 9 p.m. Other performances included, The Fabulous Hubcaps, Brickyard Road and the Spinouts.

This year, tickets and wristbands for the carnival can be purchased through digital kiosks located in the central region of the event. Tablet screens displayed options ranging from four tickets, up to ride-all-night wristbands for $30. Wristbands are also available in advance online at a presale rate of $22.58.

Missed this one? Nearly every town holds their own respective carnivals throughout the summer. The Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company has set its 2026 carnival for Aug. 3-8.
