Hagerstown’s Keith Reed couldn’t have scripted a better start to his auto racing season.
Reed, the defending points champion in the Pure Stocks at Hagerstown Speedway, once again drove to Victory Lane at last weekend’s 15-lap feature. After finishing third in the qualifying round, Reed drove from third to first in the main event. It was the second win in two weeks for Reed, who wired the Pure Stocks field for victory in his first outing.
The Late Model Sportsman feature saw three Greencastle drivers – Brian Booze, Scott Palmer, and DJ Myers – earn Top 10 finishes.
Booze had a full day of forward momentum, as he moved from sixth to third in his heat race, before advancing from seventh to second in the 20-lap feature. Palmer, a heat winner who started on the pole, finished in third, while Myers landed in seventh.
Port Royal Speedway featured strong efforts from a couple of local legends: Fayetteville’s Lance Dewease and Greencastle’s Gary Stuhler. Dewease, competing in the 410 Sprints, won the B-Main before taking 22nd in the feature. Stuhler also won a B-Main in the Super Late Models program, before moving from 19th to 12th in the feature.
At McGrewBid MotoPlex in York Haven, Chambersburg driver Trevor Gach was a Top 5 finisher in the Hyper Racing 600cc Non-Winged Micros feature. Gach started fifth in the 20-lap race and advanced one spot for a fourth-place finish.
Racing is scheduled to resume at all area tracks this weekend, including Path Valley Speedway, which is set to host its “Claybreaker Season Opener” on Saturday.
