GREENCASTLE – You did it again.
Supporters who turned out for the 44th annual Waynesboro Area Cancer Auction March 28 helped set another record.
Over $130,000 was raised at the event in Green Grove Gardens that topped the record-breaking total of $122,000 at last year’s auction, according to Ali Huber, co-chair of the auction along with Kristyn Martin since 2023.
“Each year, our community shows up in a way that truly inspires us,” she added. “This record-breaking night is a testament to the generosity and compassion of the people who make this event possible. We are incredibly grateful and excited to see the impact these funds will have locally.”
A “full house” lived up to the co-chairs’ encouragement to “bid often and bid high. Tonight we are more than just a crowd – we are ‘One Fight,’” part of the All Ages, All Stages, theme.
More than 600 items were sold across the live and silent auctions, Huber said.
The highest single bid item in event history, $13,000, was tallied for a Washington Commanders suite experience package that includes party bus transportation for 10 guests to the Northwest Stadium, she noted.
A Mardi Gras dinner drew a winning bid of $9,100.
“Our first-ever raffle basket, valued at $600, generated nearly $2,000,” Huber said.
The steering committee of the all-volunteer group will meet within the next month to allocate funds to local organizations, she added.
