Penn State Extension has announced a series of online financial-literacy webinars intended to help residents build money-management skills, understand insurance options and prepare for future financial decisions.
The offerings include multiweek and single-session programs covering budgeting, credit, debt management, savings, investing, identity-theft prevention, health insurance and family planning.
“Your Money Matters Series,” which began Sept. 11, is a five-week live webinar program focused on financial goal-setting, budgeting, credit, debt management and protection from identity theft. The program costs $10. Registrants who cannot attend live will receive access to a recorded session within 10 business days, with the recording available for six months.
Penn State Extension also will offer the “Financial Foundations Series” beginning Oct. 5. The five-part program costs $15 and includes one-hour sessions over five days. Participants will examine the relationship between personal values, money beliefs and financial behaviors while learning to create budgets, assess credit health, manage debt and plan for long-term saving and investing. Those who complete the series may earn a complimentary Penn State Financial Foundations microcredential badge. The program will not be recorded.
Additional fall programs include the three-day “Boosting Financial Wellness Series,” scheduled to begin Oct. 16. The $10 series is intended to help participants organize their finances, connect money habits with overall well-being and strengthen financial relationships.
Several free webinars will focus on health insurance. The “Smart Choice | Smart Use Health Insurance” programs include sessions for farmers and small-business owners on Sept. 17, general insurance basics on Sept. 24, seniors through multiple available sessions, and mental health coverage on Oct. 22.
The insurance programs are intended to help participants understand coverage choices, compare plans, manage health care expenses and make decisions based on their health needs and budgets.
A free “Health Insurance Coverage Updates: A Panel Discussion” is scheduled for Oct. 7. The one-hour program will address anticipated 2027 health insurance changes, open-enrollment updates and resources available to help consumers navigate the enrollment process.
Penn State Extension also plans to present “Securing Your Financial Future: Passing on Possessions” on Nov. 13. The $5 webinar will address planning for the transfer of sentimental and personal items during major life changes, with an emphasis on protecting family relationships and farm businesses.
