WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library will offer two upcoming programs, including a reading activity for elementary-age children featuring trained therapy dogs and an adults-only Paint & Sip program in October.
The library’s Kindly Canines program invites children in kindergarten through fifth grade to read to friendly, trained therapy dogs from Kindly Canines. The program is intended to provide children with an enjoyable setting in which to practice and build reading skills.
Participants may bring books from home or select a title from the library’s collection. Registration is required and may be completed in person at the library or by calling 717-762-3335.
A Kindly Canines session is scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the library’s children’s room, according to the program flyer.

The library also is accepting registrations for its Paint & Sip program, scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 27. The adults-only event costs $15 per person, and registration is required.
For the upcoming Paint & Sip, the library is asking prospective participants to help choose the project. Art historian Selena created two Halloween-themed painting options: a ghost holding a candle in a field of orange, yellow and white wildflowers, or a winking pumpkin surrounded by vines with purple and yellow flowers.
Community members may vote for their preferred design by commenting on the library’s Facebook post. Voting will remain open through Friday, Sept. 18.
