Ronald J. Formosa, 82, passed away May 9, 2026, at Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born June 24, 1943, in McKees Rocks, Pittsburgh, the son of late Phyllis and Thomas Formosa.
Ronald (Ron) grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, and after overcoming a childhood battle with Polio, Ron continued to thrive and lead a full life. He spent many years working for US Steel in Pittsburgh and eventually continued his career in mall management, living in several states before landing in Chambersburg, PA where he managed the Chambersburg Mall and Valley Mall in Hagerstown before retirement. Ron was a car enthusiast all his life and had a passion for rebuilding and fixing cars and attended as many car shows as possible. His last projects were a 1987 Corvette and a rebuild of a 1950’s truck. Ron was a family man and took great pride in providing for his wife and children and watching his family grow. He had a one-of-a-kind personality and touched many lives. He was a loyal husband, father, and friend. He was a man of faith and a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Church.
Ronald (Ron) is survived by his wife, Joanne Formosa; children: Ronald Formosa Jr. (Cheryl Formosa), Kimberley Parfitt (Jerry Parfitt), Lynne Colantoni (Vincent Colantoni), Anthony Formosa (Sierra Formosa), and Vincenzo Formosa (Lauren Formosa); grandchildren: Brian, Adam, Olivia, Lacey, Isaac, Benny, Michael, Ashley, Dominic, Matthew, Lorenzo, Elliana, Roman; great-grandchildren: Skylar, Elijah, Aliana, Ariah, Collette, Sawyer, Wesley, Wyatt, Vincent and brother: Robert (Bobby) Formosa (Barbara Formosa).
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dominique and a brother: Thomas (Tommy) Formosa Jr.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 1095 Church Rd., Orrtanna, PA 17353. A celebration of life reception will follow the service.
