Jose Santamaria, 74, passed away May 12, 2026, at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born August 25, 1951, in Iguala, Guerrero, Mexico, the son of Esperanza and Juan Santamaria.
He attended la Escuela Primaria in Iguala, Guerrero. Jose has worked as a field worker for over 20 years.
He enjoyed riding his bike around town in his younger days and listening to music. He was always so proud of his fruit trees where he grew peaches, plums, and pears. His favorite song being “Te Juro Que Te Amo” by Los Terricolas. Jose attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Jose is survived by; His wife Ofelia Santamaria; his six children, Maria L. Santamaria, Maria D. Santamaria, Jose L. Santamaria Cortez, Marcos A. Santamaria, Alberto J. Santamaria, and Enrique R. Santamaria; and 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by; his father, Juan Vargas, and his mother, Esperanza Renteria, and his seven siblings.
A Mass will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.
