Girls wrestling in Pennsylvania continues to grow at an exponential rate, so much so that District 3 has decided to put on a duals tournament on Wednesday.
Chambersburg and Upper Dauphin, two programs that both go by the Trojans nickname, get to be a part of this historic tournament and will meet in a first-round matchup that we’ve deemed as our Match of the Week.
Chambersburg, a winner of 13 consecutive matches, enters the district duals as the No. 11 seed. The Trojans will be led by a group that includes state qualifier Jessica Li and regional qualifiers Reagan Evans and Aulana Stanton.
Success won’t be easy for Chambersburg against an Upper Dauphin squad that hasn’t lost a dual since forming a girls wrestling program in 2023-24.
In the weeks and months to come throughout the high school sports season, we plan on spotlighting multiple teams and sports with our Match of the Week. Any big upcoming contests we should know about? Send suggestions to Andy Sandrik via email at [email protected].

Meet Chambersburg: The red-hot Trojans are on a 13-match winning streak and enter the district duals as the No. 11 seed … Coach Joshua Sherman’s Chambersburg squad brings four regional qualifiers to the mat, including Jessica Li, who qualified for states last winter … Wrestling at 106-112 pounds, Li is 20-8 with seven falls this season. The junior lightweight is two wins away from reaching 50 for her career … Reagan Evans and Aulana Stanton were both Section 2 champions last season, and both will be counted on for bonus points against Upper Dauphin … Evans is 28-1 with 26 falls this season. Her only loss came in December against Octorara’s Ella Teufert, a regional champion and fourth-place PIAA finisher … Stanton has posted a 26-2 record this winter with 11 falls. She is an Honorable Mention selection in the state rankings at 170 pounds and has won 14 of her last 15 matches … Lillybeth Alcantaras, a regional qualifier last season, is 18-8 with seven falls at 190-235 pounds … Hadyn Fritz (22-7, 15 falls), a sixth-place section finisher at 142 pounds last season, also has postseason experience … Three freshmen — Emily Shaffner (21-7 at 100), Piper Jones (23-4 at 130), and Makenna Lowe (20-7 at 170-190) — have been key contributors for Chambersburg’s dual squad, and the same can be said for sophomore Alba Rojas (18-10 at 136-142) and junior Daryn Glasgow (19-9 at 155) … A number of others could make an impact on Wednesday, including Taliyah Carrillo (106), Jocely Snavely (106), Sidney Butler (112), Ava Mellott (112-118), Kayden Gross (118-124), Cortlyn Finkle (124), Alejandra Cole Rosales (124-136), Noema Ayala (136), Brookelyn Morrow (142), Brionna Smith (155), Alexa Castillo (155), and Arianna “Kaden” Malone (190).
Meet Upper Dauphin: Few girls wrestling programs have gotten off to a faster start than the Trojans, who are 15-0 since making their debut in the 2023-24 season … Coach Todd Rupp’s squad has once again been dominant this winter, with Upper Dauphin’s closest match being a 42-36 win over Northampton on Nov. 29 … The Trojans enter the district duals as the No. 6 seed and should provide a challenge for Chambersburg with a lineup that includes six competitors with regional wrestling experience … Leading the Trojans is Jada Diller, a junior state qualifier who recently picked up the 50th win of her career. Diller, who wrestles at 124-136 pounds, is 21-6 this winter with all of her wins coming by fall … Upper Dauphin is particularly strong at the middle and upper weights, with regional qualifiers Jacelyn Henninger (21-5 at 136-155), Marjorie Hoffman-Long (15-2 at 142-148), Kristen Rosado (15-7 at 148-155), Lydia Engle (8-6 at 170-190), and Chloe Ratcliffe (18-3 at 190-235) … Isabella Latshaw (148-170) and Grace Eure (235) could also see the mat in the upper-weight bouts … The Trojans lack postseason accolades at the lower weights, but have enough talent to flip the script this season with Cambrie Herb (14-7 at 100-106) and Jenna Teeter (15-9 at 118-124) leading the way … Covering all weight classes shouldn’t be an issue for Upper Dauphin, whose roster includes the likes of Audrina Hoover (100-106), Myleigh Ganunis (112), Alivia Conrad (112-118), Layla Smith (112-118), Morgan Berrier (118-130), Kaia Snyder (130-136), and Calli Clark (136-142).
Sandrik’s pick: Chambersburg by 12.
